Background:
Ghost Connections were contacted in March 2009 by A* who was concerned as her daughter B* was having her sleep disturbed by voices and seeing people within their house who no-one else could see. These persons had been seen over the last 12 years by her daughter who was now 14yrs of age. B* had on previous occasions seen her grandmother in her bedroom since her grandmothers death. B* had seen other persons with her grandmother including a younger girl. A male voice was disturbing her sleep shouting,'Get out, get out'. B* had heard, from her bedroom, voices in the downstairs hallway. B* had also heard the name 'Elizabeth' called out by a female voice. All the occupants including A*'s husband and son had heard footsteps in the hallway and leading up the stairs whilst all being in the lounge. This had also been witnessed by the neighbour. These were likened to high heeled shoes. The hallway was surfaced in wood whereas the staircase was carpeted.

B* also stated that when a younger child she had been conversing with a woman who taught her letters and numbers. This woman had appeared to her on several occasion. She further stated that as when aged about 3 years she had looked out of the front window towards the street and seen a number of soldiers and horses which when pointed out could not be seen by others in the house. Recently A* had resorted to sleeping with her daughter in her single bed so she could be encouraged to sleep. B*, however, was still on occasions waking up in the middle of the night and had reported seeing a featureless black shape in her room which she believed to be a man.

It was further reported that A* had seen a similar shape on the staircase whilst being in the living room.

Two events of objects being moved had been reported. A wrench kept in the upstairs bathroom had been found under B*'s pillow and a rosary that was placed in B*'s room had been moved whilst all persons where apparently elsewhere and later, when searched for, found on the floor on the first floor landing.

Method:
Using a slightly different approach to previous investigations we would seek, not only to ascertain any explanation for the sightings and events described by the occupants but also incorporate some methods to test any possible psychic ability of B*. B* was going to be out initially and so any test would have to be simple and easy to complete if she was tired at this point. Any further established tests would have to be completed on a further occasion. It was sought to compare any noticeable results from an investigation held in B*'s room by part of the team whilst the other members were downstairs (and switched) with a similar exercise conducted later with B* present.

It was further sought to establish if B* could draw any detailed pictures of the persons she has described. Various other methods of attempting to produce similar effects to those noted would be promoted through various means.

Investigation:
Initially closed circuit CCTV was installed in B*'s bedroom and monitored from the downstairs lounge whilst at the same time being recorded for future analysis.

Kim and Paddy were the first to hold investigation within the room monitored by Ian and Dave downstairs. Also downstairs at the time was A*. During this session a number of noises were heard by Kim and Paddy from an area within the room. These were described as banging or knocking noises and came from low down on the outside facing front wall. Similar noises were heard by Ian and Dave and despite investigation inside and out in the area of the intersecting wall of the lounge and hallway could not accurately be identified. Throughout various requests by Ian and Dave some repetition was forthcoming although not stopping upon request.

Kim and Paddy then swapped with Ian and Dave whilst A* remained in the lounge. Upstairs Ian and Dave noticed that the knocking noise was louder and appeared to be more local to the bedroom in the same spot as noted independently by Kim and Paddy.

It was also noted by Ian and Dave that although the bedroom door was closed, and lounge door open, Kim, Paddy and A* could be just about heard talking. Particular words could not be made out although it was clear a conversation was taking place. Kim and Paddy were then asked, via walkie talkie, to converse in the hall/front door area. This they did and the conversation was clearer. Individual voices could be discerned and some words were clear.

Based upon the auditory sensation of hearing this it was then asked if A* could walk from the lounge across the wood floor of the hall to the rear of the house and back. This was done and the sound of footsteps could clearly be made out from B*s bedroom.

Dave noted hearing a whistle outside the bedroom door on the landing area. He described it as a single ascending note whistled by a person.

Following these sessions a break took place and at this point B* returned home and she was asked to draw the persons she had seen within and without the house. These drawings are reproduced on the following pages;

Following the production of these drawings and an establishment of the appearance of the persons previously described as being seen by A* it was decided to conduct another test.

Psychometry is said to be a skill professed by psychics the be the ability of a 'gifted' person to be able to 'read' an object by touch alone and be able to tell specific facts about the objects owner or history. Ghost Connections decided to attempt to conduct an experiment into this alleged phenomena by providing B* with an object belonging to the one of the team (of whom nothing was known other than their name), without telling them whose it was and see what information was forthcoming.

With no definitive unaccounted for events witnessed so far by the team a séance was conducted. During such events it has been claimed that those persons who can 'see' and can further enhance their ability. All persons present took part with the exception of Ian who filmed the events.

Firstly, B* broke down in tears and stated she had heard the word 'Sorry' spoken by a female. After recovering herself we continued. A* then claimed that something unseen was pulling her neck tighter and she could not breathe properly. Her neck was seen to appear to be stretched taught around its circumference. This event was witnessed by the team present. Initially this distressed her.

After a short break the same was repeated. Again A*s neck appeared to tighten quickly. Ian swapped with Kim. Again, with A* finding this uncomfortable, we stopped the experiment and after consultation we decided we would continue changing places.

During the third session A* again claimed the same effect. The team heard a sound of footsteps clearly in the hall area. This was to be the only sound of such footsteps that would be heard and evidenced not to be A*. Paddy and B* both agreed they saw a dark human shape behind Dave at the same time that Dave described feeling an intensely cold chill run up his back.

The investigation of B*'s bedroom prior to her returning home was of interest to the team. It gave them the chance to establish some base results for noises occurring naturally within the house and how they could be heard from this room. The findings were such that the team feel that a substantial amount of the noises heard from the bedroom were likely to have been caused by two things -

1. The repetitive thumping of the heating system in the area of the radiator in the same room.
2. The movements of other persons in the house notably A* who habitually wore heeled boots indoors.

It is accepted that this does not explain how the team heard footsteps later in the area of the hallway.

It did however establish that any conversation downstairs can be heard from the bedroom. Dependant upon the location of the persons conversing is the degree at which the actual substance of the conversation can be heard.

The production of the drawings included does not prove that these were the persons that B* saw over a period of years of living in this house. It shows the interpretation of these sightings by B* as recounted later and in some cases a number of years later. This may show that B* has an accurate recollection and that these drawings are a good representation of persons she saw. It may equally show that B* has an active imagination and an ability to draw details on request.

The psychometry test conducted was done using a neck chain belonging to one of the team. B* made various statements in regard to it. The facts given could have related to the owner however were vague and cannot be accurately ascribed. This test was inconclusive.

Dark forms described as existing at one point cannot be identified other than they did not appear to any other persons. This may co-incidentally have been reported that the same time and in the same location of the the coldness felt by one of the team at the same location.

What is intriguing are the physical effects seen on the neck of A* during three sessions. These may or may not be a physically possible attribution. The combined effect of feeling the tightening of her neck and the upset it caused by the induced inability to breath are more difficult to explain.

During our stay a certain amount of other information of a clairvoyant nature was forthcoming. As Ghost Connections conducts scientifically based investigations we do not publish such observations, however, this information is held on a separate database and may prove interesting when compared to other peoples experiences. What was further interesting was how the focus of the investigation was naturally required to shift towards A* on the night due to the events described. It is possibly that some psychosis again took place here and/or a desire, deliberately or subconsciously, to receive more attention came into play.
Generally the occurrence to A*'s neck may have could be said to have been caused deliberately or was induced by some other psychotic state. If the former is true it raises concerns in regard to the reasons for this occurring when this was not the focus of the investigation initially. If the latter is true then it raises questions about forms of psychosis that may produce this phenomena. It could equally have been caused by some physical interaction with something unseen by the team. It is plausible that this could be made to occur deliberately but we believe this not to be the case.
It remains unexplained.

Since undertaking this investigation Ghost Connections took several weeks creating the report and many discussions on how best to present our findings to the owners of the property. We understand that we have to offer several possibilites as to what may or may not be occuring in the house. This sometimes is not agreed by the owner. We as investigators would not be offering a service if we were to omit possibilites from all angles.

It is with some dismay that I received your comments.

The content to which you refer is reproduced below as I feel it may have been misread. Psychosis is not only a severe mental condition but also entails the temporary loss of contact with reality. That is not to say that a person for the time period given is mentally ill but that they have, for whatever reason, for that point in time been subject to a lack of contact with what is actually occurring. This is frequently applied in this field to highlight one possible explanation for sightings or other paranoia where they cannot be evidenced by any means.

We also have to consider within the context of the report any theories for what occurs before we make our considered opinion on what occurred.

You will see however that the below italic text is a direct paste from the report. Within it the (now) blue text highlights what was considered possible. The further possible explanations are highlighted in green text. The conclusion of which we are certain is in red text.

Please note that within this text we have stated that either

1. It was made up.

2. It was as a result of some psychosis - i.e. loss of contact with the reality of the situation.

or

3. It was due to an outside influence unseen by anyone there.

We have gone further to dismiss 1.

We are not qualified to state that it is 2 and we have no evidence to state it is 3.

Therefore it remains unexplained. It happened but we do not KNOW why.

If this explanation as to the content of the report still dissatisfies you then I feel we can do no more than you have suggested and part company at this point.
