St.Marys Old Church - Little Chart, Kent

The history of this church is well known so a summary is probably all that is required. Built in the Middle Ages it suffered a direct hit from a V1 flying bomb during World War II but thankfully there were no casualties. A favourite site of local ghost rambles being so close to Pluckley that most people think it is in Pluckley.

Method:

Using visual and scientific methods combined with spiritual information investigate the background to alleged paranormal phenomena at this venue.

Investigation:

The team relocated here after being rained off, unsually, at our previous location at the Roman Road and St Mary's offers a dry shelter under the remains of the tower.

This investigation was also to be flawed!

St Mary's is a favourite spot for congregating youths. Damage was found here by us in September and this night was to be no different.

We found the previously damaged belfry stair turret door to have been forcibly battered from its fixings. What was even more disappointing was the manner that was employed. A piece of masonry of some weight had been used repeatedly to smash the door from its hinges after the lock and hasp failed to give way to the same treatment.

It could not be identified where this masonry came from but appears to have been from the structure of the church itself. This, to us, makes this even more deplorable.

We set up, in any case, to begin our investigation and dry out a little.

This was interrupted later after little evidence being gained by three cars descending on the car park. A number of individuals then got out of their car, having parked either side of ours, and made their way up to the church not caring for the fact others were there.

This intrusion on others privacy appears to be a par for the course here and happened on our last visit.

It would appear that this is a common meeting place for persons of a certain age. Whilst this cannot be stopped, other than to secure the site completely, it is a shame that some of these individuals are clearly responsible for repeated and wanton vandalism at this site.

Results

An investigation flawed by shock at the damage and the interruption again.

Ghost Connections do not condone any such behaviour as exhibitted at St Mary's and would refrain from posting the location if this was as hard to find as our other locations although in this case we feel that there is little point. We can only hope that by posting this report it may cause others to reconsider their own actions or at least serve to make other investigators who wish to take this site seriously to consider how best to go about protecting their privacy at Little Chart.

During our stay a certain amount of other information was forthcoming to the team of a clairvoyant nature. As Ghost Connections conducts scientifically based investigations we do not publish such observations, however, this information is held on a separate database and may prove interesting when compared to other peoples experiences. Should you wish to discuss this information please email us

Camcorder footage, still photographs and voice recorders were later examined and nothing of note was found.

Conclusions
A disappointment for totally explainable reasons.
