Undisclosed Location - Kent

Ghost Connections were privileged to be granted access to the same venue as visited in August, twice in September, and then in November 2007, followed by January, March and June 2008 with a return in October. This venue is in rural Kent and is significant historical interest spanning several centuries. To our knowledge it has never been subject to a paranormal investigation and after our first visit we are pleased to be able to conduct further investigations at this venue.

The site consists of three buildings of which two have been referred to as buildings A and B in the previous report. The same terms will be used here.

Previously, in building A, we had noted a number different phenomena occurring including noises of movement, machinery being operated, sensations of heat and cold, sensations of being watched, shadows being seen to apparently move, sounds of persons moving around, knocks and taps occurring on demand and also during times when the team were not present.

In building B, we had noted strange lights, sounds of persons moving and a limited number of knocks and taps on demand.

After the previous visit was intended to be our final visit we were kindly allowed to continue by the owners and we are indebted to their generosity and understanding in the manner of the freedom afforded of Ghost Connections of this site.

Before reading on it should be said that within the investigation section Ghost Connections always record the facts of what took place. It may be from one or more individuals perspective but it is what took place. Within 'Results' we attempt to explain what happened.
We have also, for the purposes of this investigation, withheld the names of the individual team members. We have done this to protect the identity of the team members after experiencing a phenomena that we have not previously experienced are still debating how we should assess.

Investigation:

CCTV was not deployed on this occasion.

The events of the last investigation at this site can be certainly said to have raised our awareness towards physical and psychological phenomena and it was these that we considered were in need of experimentation / further investigation.

A comparison of the methods and results of the last investigations would show that predominantly we split into two repetitive pairs. There was our first thought – did the presence of any particular member at any one location cause psychological effects on the other person? Did the presence of any single person in a pairing render certain phenomena more likely to occur? Taking a more literal approach we decided to explore whether any one individual was actually the 'catalyst' for any particular events.

To this end the teams were reshuffled with the traditional change around after the first session.

W and X started in building B then moving to building A whilst Y and Z would do the reverse. In keeping with other reports both results from one building will be posted for comparison purposes, although in the event there was little comparison to be had.

As stated W and X would be first in building B. During the course of the vigil here there would be odd noises within the building yet nothing that was considered out of the ordinary or identifiable enough to investigate the source of. The temperature was 8.3 deg C initially.

X noted the smell of fresh engine oil at one point.

W noted an orange flash above the position of X's camera and movement from right to left of a dark shape in front of them. Despite facing a similar direction X did not note either of these events.

The temperature was now noted at 9.35 deg C dropping to 8.6 deg C.

W described feeling exceptionally cold and the temperature was 7.9 deg C.

X would comment on feeling particularly cold with his hands feeling noticeably cold. The temperature inside was a fairly constant 7.7 deg C at this point.

Nothing else was noted during this session.

Y and Z were next into building B without having conversed with W or X regarding what occurred.

Instantly upon sitting down having started recording noises were noted near the main doors. Upon request this was instantly repeated. A further request resulted in another repeat of the same noise.

Checks were made of the area and no likely cause was found so they returned to their seats and called again. The noise repeated on demand. The request was made for multiple taps and it was specified that two were required. Two taps were forthcoming. Three were asked for and three were forthcoming. Whilst both Y and Z conversed the noise still continued. The camcorder was moved closer to the perceived source of the noise and it continued on some occasions on demand and some others not. The noise was requested to be silent so that further interaction could occur on cue. The noise stopped and there was silence. Y and Z were about to ask for further repetition when W and X appeared from out of building A. This was revisited after a break by all the team.

Y and Z were the first to sit out building A.

Y noted a shadow moving from his left to right. This 'movement' was followed by a loud knock further within the building. Further requests prompted no responses. Ian sensed further movement followed by a tap. Both saw movement right in front of them followed by a loud tap by a table. A repeat was asked for and was forthcoming. This was close by and the area was checked for sources.

Y then noted a flash of light from the far end of the building. They continued calling for noises with no result.

X noted the smell of fresh engine oil at one point.

W noted an orange flash above the position of X's camera and movement from right to left of a dark shape in front of them. Despite facing a similar direction X did not note either of these events.

Y then noted a flash of light from the far end of the building. They continued calling for noises with no result.

Further occasional knocks were heard and Y noted that he feels someone is around him.

Y heard steps and both heard other noises including breathing by someone other than themselves.

Z saw a flash of light on a piece of an exhibit within the building.

A knock was heard across on the other side of the building. Upon prompting there was another.

During the break it was noted that several batteries in different peoples equipment were depleted and all required changing.

W and X were to find building A a completely different experience.

The initial temperature was 4.6 deg C.

The temperature was seen to drop from the initial reading to 3.9 deg C and settle at 3.8 deg C.

The usual invitation to provide evidence of existence / communication was made. A re-iteration of previous phenomena was recounted and repeats invited.

It was noted that W was becoming very quiet and not saying much during the first ten minutes. When asked about this W stated they felt tired.

W stated they felt a tingling sensation on the rear of their head.

X sensed that someone was standing to their right side. X stated that he was drawn to this position although could see nothing there.

Haphazardly moving anomalies are seen on the video footage at intervals during this sitting.

A vocal 'Huhh' was heard distinctly.

It was noted that W's speech had become vague and laboured as if they were entering into a sleep like state.

Within ten minutes their speech became even more 'sleep like' and their answers to questions were non-committal. They stated that they were being talked to by man who can also hear X.

A sound of movement at the other end of the building was heard.

Further questions were asked of W where their responses where vague and, being concerned, it was decided to end the session. X attempted to raise Y and Z on the radio but the channel had changed. It was beeping as X tried to reset it and W uncharacteristically shouted 'SHUT THAT CONTRAPTION UP'. The session was ended and W and X made their way outside.

After a break where both locations were discussed a plan was formulated and W recovered.

Firstly all the team would go to building B in an attempt to obtain further evidence of noises occurring on request to Y and Z within this building.

All being seated with all video and audio equipment running there was no repetition of the noises in any shape or form. A single tap was heard but no repetition of location for investigation was available. This session was concluded.

All of the team then relocated back to building A to attempt to get to the bottom of what was occurring with W. The temperature was 2.7 deg C.

Z commented on a pain in the left side of his head (nearest to W)

X and Y commented on a chemically type smell reminiscent of bitumen fence varnish.

W stated they saw many random images and when asked to describe each one ran off a list of flowerpot, jelly bean, millipede, bubbles and a scary man face. On the video recording at this point it can be seen that W's breathing is really heavy. W then became very unresponsive to questions from X and Z. Very few of their questions are answered and W's breathing became shallower.

Communication was invited and W said,'Coming anyway'. Z asked what this person said his name was and W said 'Jonathan'. W then said,'That'll do'. X prompted,'Why is that?' with no reply and then,'What do you want to show us Jonathan?' Again there was no reply. After a gap further answers were prompted by Z and X with no avail. W said they didn't like the man. Some of W's answers again became indistinct. One comment however was very clear – X asked,'Come on then, Jonathan, you said you wanted to show me a thing or two.' W then sternly and clearly said,'SHUT UP'. There was no response to further questioning. The only answer forthcoming was '********'s not helping'.

Please note the asterisks above indicated the tense in which the phrase was given and not that the name of the person themselves was forthcoming.

It was then decided to take a short break before trying to continue this experiment.

For some time there was nothing forthcoming. Everyone managed to remain alert. There was a faint bang in the distance within the building that was not repeated upon request. Y commented on a noise heard coming from the area of a table a few feet behind the team. Z heard a voice speak about 3 words although he could not define what they were. Z thought something touched them.
X feels a stabbing pain in their lower back on the left side. They likened it to a knife being thrust in and twisted (as an analogy). It wore off as quickly as it came.

Throughout this session, communication was invited. W had a pain in their ribs. A noise was heard and a louder repeat was requested. Nothing was forthcoming. W was still complaining of a pain in their ribs and began coughing consistently. W then became suddenly unresponsive. Their coughing had stopped and she was not responding to our voices. The following dialogue took place -

X – Talk to me whoever you are?
W - Inaudible reply
Y – We can't hear you
X – Whoever you are
W – Hudson
X – Hudson?
W - Jonathan
X – Jonathan?
X – Come on Jonathan talk to us.
X - You want to talk to us? Yes?
X - How old are you Jonathan?
W - Inaudible reply.
X – Pardon?
X - Are you finding this difficult?
X – Is this what you wanted to do? Did you want to talk like this?
X– Jonathan? Yes?
X – Take your time.
X – Jonathan do you need our help?
W – No
X – Why do you want to talk to us?
X – Is there anything we can do for you?
W– No
X – No? OK. Can you tell us why you want to talk to us?
W – Inaudible reply.
W – Stop it.
X – Stop what?
X – Can you speak a bit more clearly Jonathan please?
X – Are you finding it difficult?
X - Whats stopping you?
W – She is
X – She's stopping you?
X – Jonathan what do you want with us?
W – Stop
X – You want us to stop do you?
No reply
X – Do you want us to stop coming here?
No reply

No other communication was forthcoming and we ended the session to make sure everyone was OK. Throughout this above conversation W was making the odd cough and other small faint noises during the conversation. At odd points they appeared distressed but this quickly subsided before re-appearing again. At the end of the session their breathing went from being very shallow to erratic and faster almost to a point of hyperventilating.

This was our last session of the night.

  Results
Again the weather was calm on this occasion and cannot be said to have caused any noises within the building.

There is no way any persons could have entered the building without our knowledge and this event must be considered to be of value in our investigations on this site.

As stated previously we have written the facts within the 'Investigation' part above. Within this section we attempt to explain what occurred.

We shall deal with the investigation as it is reported above.

The smell of engine oil smelt by X could be due to the presence of machinery within the building B. This machinery would naturally have had oil in it during its working lifetime although it is not known if it still had. Regardless, this could have explained this smell.

The orange flash noted by W in the area of X's camera is more difficult to explain. With the exception of the Infra Red LED's on the camcorder itself and the additional light unit all light sources on camcorders are obscured and screens closed. The viewfinders are also covered. In this way no light can be caused by the camcorder. No equipment emits an orange light. There is a residential premises nearby which can be seen through the windows. It is possible that the light came from this premises through a window although due to our position within the building we do not believe this to be the case.

Feelings of coldness may be due to the dropping temperature but this was only gradual although the body reacts to cold temperatures more when still so these comments may be due to inactivity.

Y and Z found no cause for the noise they heard near the door. It was considered that it may be natural although the repetition on request is unusual for natural noises. Not only was repetition forthcoming but also two and three in succession upon being asked to produce the same. Natural noises tend to have a repetition cycle that is consistent or they occur infrequently. The occurrence of a requested number of noises immediately upon demand cannot be explained.

In building A Y and Z encountered further noises which repeated upon request although no patterns were forthcoming. This in itself is difficult to quantify.

They also state they saw shadows and movement. In near darkness it is difficult to assess the genuine nature of a solid shape moving about. We know there were no other people present with us to cause a shadow or be seen as a shadow in the darkness and we also know there were no other living animals of a similar size that could have been mistaken. This does not avoid the mind believing it has seen something when in such conditions. This phenomena, or paredolia, may be the cause of these images. In the absence of anything recorded on our footage to support the account we cannot make any sound judgments.

The flashes of light seen by Y and Z could not be explained although similar comments apply as that seen by W in building B.

The fact that no one else was present has already been stated and therefore the steps described as being heard by Z followed by breathing are difficult to explain.

Fully charged rechargeable batteries or part used single use ones were in the equipment when the team first started. Such a quick drain is not often seen but is explainable due to the natural conditions. Battery power is lost quicker in lower temperatures and may have been the cause here.

W and X found something different. Tiredness so early is difficult to explain. Tingling sensations may be caused by something unseen touching an area of the body. In this instance, though, the video footage shows nothing obvious.

Feelings of another person in the vicinity cannot be explained although may be due to paredolia being attributable within such dark spaces. Nothing was seen on the video footage to support the notes.

The anomalies on the video footage during this session were not seen with the naked eye so cannot be readily identified although by the movement exhibited appeared to be insects, maybe moths of a small size.

The vocal sound described as a 'Huhh' is difficult to explain. It could not be ascertained if this came from within or outside of the building and the vicinity of animals including goats and dogs at a nearby premise may explain this sound. It was not repeated and therefore could not be identified.

W's attentive state and subsequent comments combined with shallow breathing were unusual and were further studied later although after suspending the investigation within that building at that time provided us with time to consider our direction.

The aches and pains noted may be due to the cold and cramp setting in from being motionless.

The direction was taken based on the fact that we are Paranormal Investigators and as such we should explore any phenomena or opportunity to experience such phenomena as may be considered to be within the paranormal field. We aim to prove or disprove the presence of ghosts or spirits and their ability to interact with the living. In this regard it was considered viable to explore this incident further as seen within the next session.

We cannot yet explain what actually occurred but we continued with the attempts to communicate with anyone present. What transpired has been faithfully reported above. It can only has a few explanations – any verbals were made up, anything spoken was induced by a state of mind or we were communicating with someone through W.

The physical attributes of the events surrounding W are difficult to explain in a rational manner. In the best traditions of Ghost Connections we have attempted to find a reasonable explanation for this incident and cannot at the current time explain it.

We also deployed data loggers within this investigation. These monitor temperature in degree C, humidity and dew point.

The graph below were taken in building A and the times are shown. We cannot explain these fluctuations. We are used to some fluctuation as the evening progresses and the temperature drops. Whilst in this instance we cannot say the fluctuation between 02:38 and 02:45 other than to say it occurs during the intensity of the conversation transcript described within the investigation section.

During our stay a certain amount of other information was forthcoming to the team of a clairvoyant nature. As Ghost Connections conducts scientifically based investigations we do not publish such observations, however, this information is held on a separate database and may prove interesting when compared to other peoples experiences. Should you wish to discuss this information please email us.

Camcorder footage, still photographs and voice recorders were later examined and nothing further of note was found. Some of the audible noises were found to be recorded and as such we can be certain that they were not imagined by the team.

  Conclusion
This investigation took our investigation of paranormal phenomena further than it has before. Repeated sounds upon request are of particular interest and also the conversation with W by X and followed by the team. We do not make events up for the benefit of our investigations or our own gain. Each member of the team is trusted within the team and therefore we can be certain what happened was real. The cause of what happened, though, is open to conjecture but for once we can say we have explored a spiritually linked paranormal phenomena. We cannot be sure such an opportunity will arise again due to the event itself.
Thanks
Ghost Connections extend their thanks to the custodians of this site for their continued support to an ongoing series of investigations.
