Undisclosed Location - East Kent

21st March 2015

Being on private land this details of this location are now withheld at the request of the landowner who has given Ghost Connections exclusive permission to investigate and keep a watching brief over the condition of the site over the last few years.

The site consists of a densely wooded area in East Kent in the centre of which are the ruins of a 12th century chantry chapel that has seen various uses over the centuries after the dissolution of the monasteries which saw its original demise.

A nearby house was used for a billet for troops in both World Wars and practice trenches exist within the woodland as testimony to their presence.

  The Investigation
  Aim:

To investigate reports of paranormal activity at this location.

Background:

There have been many reports of paranormal activity here over the years most of which have a documented witness. Grey lady's at the roadside and spectral noises are among the reports. A drowned boy in a well is documented in recent history and a hanged man in the woods is unsubstantiated.

Ghost Connections have investigated this location many times and it remains a firm favourite.

Team:

Kim

Graham
Paddy
Dave

Method:

Using visual and scientific methods combined with spiritual information investigate the background to alleged paranormal phenomena at this venue.

Investigation:

Road noise is a major contention at this site and also when windy the trees tend to create substantial amounts of noise being as ancient as they are and somewhat precarious in nature. This would be born in mind on this night as it was gusty. It was also cold in the wind and only the ruins themselves provided some sort of shelter.

Results
The team set up within the confines of the ruined chapel near the east end. They seated themselves facing each other although not within touching distance. The importance of this fact will become clear.

Within a few minutes Kim felt like she was touched by something and immediately afterwards Dave felt something brush upwards against his knee.

Ian believed he saw a figure near to the doorway of the ruins.

It was remarked that it was suddenly lighter within the ruins and more could be seen with the naked eye.

Paddy remarked of hearing a high pitched scream type noise. Within two minutes there was a similar noise.

Kim saw a flash of light within the woods that could be seen beyond the ruins.

Graham then heard what he described as a male voice. Four minutes later a similar noise was heard.

There was a repeated flashing of light within the treetops visible from within the ruins that lasted for some time, paused and then recommenced.

A break was called to investigate the source of this light.

Returning to the same location, after a short time a loud crashing was heard among the trees immediately adjacent to the ruins.

Paddy saw an patch of lighter illumination against the south wall beyond Graham.

Dave saw a white pin prick of light towards, or against, the west wall that moved in an upward and then downward motion of an arc then disappeared as quickly as it had appeared.

The team asked direct questions and asked for responses. There were no responses heard.

Dave stretched his foot out and felt it connect with something as though he had kicked someone or something solid.

With very little else occurring, and the adverse temperature for open air investigations, the investigation was concluded.

Conclusions
The instance of physical contact of Kim is unexplained. The team were not close enough to have touched each other and even though this was questioned the footage shows this to be the case in Kims event. It is possible that Kim was hit by a piece of falling tree or similar but due to the amount of debris this could not be established. Dave's incident, however, was explained by the footage (see video) in that it seems likely that, even though he was not aware, Graham did in fact lightly touch Dave's knee with with his left foot.

The improvement in light levels is believed to have been caused by an area of cloud that appeared. However far away any light source can be reflected on clouds and produce this blanket effect of improving the light levels.

The scream type noises was also suggested to have been some type of machinery and there is an automatic gate on a very nearby driveway which could have caused the noise by opening and then shutting. This remains a possibility.

The instances of lights in the woods were subject to investigation and no persons were present on the site and no torch lights were seen directly. The continued lights in the tops of the trees were seen to come from some distance away and could not directly be identified although it is believed these may have been people lamping (hunting with dogs) beyond our eye-line but with strong enough lights that would reach our location. We have encountered this before. There is a distinct similarity between this a similar event on a previous investigation on the site in 2011. A clip of this similar noise is produced in the accompanying video for comparison. It does not sound like a natural noise and is very close to the team.

The loud movement within the trees was distinct however an owl was also heard very nearby at the time and this may have been caused by it landing within the trees.

The illumination that Paddy saw against the south wall was believed to be caused by the viewfinder of Dave's camcorder however reproduction failed to establish this as the area was beyond the reach of the dim illumination from this source. It is unknown what caused it at this time.

The pin prick of light seen by Dave is unexplained. It may have been an illusion caused by refracted light upon his spectacles but he attempted to reproduce this to no avail. There were also no nearby light sources to cause this effect.

During our stay a certain amount of other information was forthcoming to the team of a clairvoyant nature. As Ghost Connections conducts scientifically based investigations we do not publish such observations, however, this information is held on a separate database and may prove interesting when compared to other peoples experiences. Should you wish to discuss this information please email us.

Given the temperature and the initial pause in the investigation, very little was achieved and we will revisit again with the intentions of staying longer. This site remains and interesting enigma given the number of times we have been and the amount of unexplained occurrences we have noted during our investigations.

Thanks
We extend our thanks to the land owner for his continued permission to access his land and conduct our investigations on the ancient site.
