Undisclosed Location - Kent

26th September 2009

Ghost Connections were privileged to be granted access to the same venue as visited in August, twice in September, and then in November 2007, followed by January, March and June 2008 with a return in October and December 2008. We returned again in June 2009. This venue is in rural Kent and is significant historical interest spanning several centuries. To our knowledge it has never been subject to a paranormal investigation and after our first visit we are pleased to be able to conduct further investigations at this venue.

The site consists of three buildings of which two have been referred to as buildings A and B in the previous report. The same terms will be used here.

Previously, in building A, we had noted a number different phenomena occurring including noises of movement, machinery being operated, sensations of heat and cold, sensations of being watched, shadows being seen to apparently move, sounds of persons moving around, knocks and taps occurring on demand and also during times when the team were not present.

In building B, we had noted strange lights, sounds of persons moving and a limited number of knocks and taps on demand.

We previously noted that certain things seem to occur in respective buildings with respective members of the team.

In accordance with the wishes of the venue we continue to keep the location anonymous.

Team:

Kim
Ian
Paddy
Dave

Method:

Using visual and scientific methods combined with spiritual theory investigate the background to alleged paranormal phenomena at this venue.

We also intended to further explore the theory of talking boards (Ouija) during this investigation.

Having attempted to explore the theory that phenomena was recorded more frequently in one building by one pairing and when swapped or the whole team was present little happened, we decided to use the other pairing to observe the initial pairs as noted in previous investigations. It was envisaged that the observing team could provide a critical overview if required and also assist in the locations of any phenomena if reported by those actually conducting the investigation whilst, unless prompted, remaining quiet.

Investigation:

The weather was calm on this occasion and therefore there were very few noises around the location attributable to the buildings or their surroundings.

The team split into -
Team 1 – Kim and Paddy.
Team 2 – Ian and Dave.

Team 1 investigated building A initially observed by team 2 and then team 2 in building B observed by team 1 or so the plan read. We didn't quite expect what was to occur and again our investigation differed from the plan.

Building A Session 1

Kim and Paddy seated themselves in the normal places and the session was recorded in Kim's voice recorder and Paddy's video camera and voice recorder. Ian and Dave seated themselves across the building against the further wall with an obscured view of Kim and Paddy, and a full length view of their side of the building. Events from their viewpoint were recorded on video cam by Ian and on Dave's voice recorder.

Building A Session 2

For the second session we repeated the seating arrangements as per session 1 but Ian and Dave were allowed more of an interactive role. All equipment placements remained as before although Dave would also use his video cam.

Building A Session 3.

For this session the team decided to experiment with their self made talking board (Ouija) and glass.

Results
Once again the weather was calm on this occasion and cannot be said to have caused any noises within the building.

There is no way any persons could have entered the building without our knowledge and the integrity of the investigation is thus preserved.

Building A Session 1

Paddy commented on a faint 'whirring' sound.

Paddy commented on hearing a male child’s voice.

Then the clicking noises began. Initially a location could not be identified and Paddy asked for signs of any indication of other persons present to be made.

The first few noises heard could not be heard on the footage. Sporadically the same noises were heard by Ian and Dave. Their observations are (in general) included at the end of this section.

Kim got the impression of a man standing behind Paddy further into the building.

Kim stated she saw movement within the building.

Paddy felt compelled to take a photograph of the area to Kim's right and did so.

Kim commented on a metallic sounding tap. This was confirmed by Dave and Ian to have come from the area of a window frame near to them.

At the same time of the above Ian and Dave took the opportunity to discuss a noise described as leather like shoe type noise they both heard. It was confirmed to have been heard by Paddy also.

Paddy and Kim agree that a flash of light was seen to Paddy's left. More of these would be seen by Paddy during the session. The first was described ad blue-green in hue.

The above occurred as Kim was about to describe a moving thick fog near to her right which, as watching, it seemed to arc around her.

Kim heard a footstep to her right.

Two distinct taps are heard by Kim and Paddy near to them.

A sound of a singular rattle was heard and commented on by Kim and Paddy. Following this noise Kim describes a 'fluttering' brown object in front of her.

Kim now made her first complaint of aching arms.

Paddy stated he kept seeing something which was attracting his attention to Kim's right.

Paddy heard a noise across by Ian and Dave.

Kim and Paddy comment on a noise heard near the door and Kim called for whoever was there to come towards them and a thump is then heard and Kim states she saw a light come towards them and then arc away. A further noise is then heard near to them although towards Ian and Dave. This is likened to a person clearing their throat. A number of other noises were heard after this.

The sensation in Kim's arms was becoming unbearable and a break was called.

Building A Session 2

It took about ten minutes for the first noise to be heard near Ian. This was a faint sound and was not recorded on the footage.

Kim's arms felt painful and heavy, as if they were being pushed down upon. This would continue for some time.

Odd noises could be heard throughout the building intermittently with no pattern.

Dave then inexplicably developed a pain in his right shoulder joint.

Dave then commented on a noise that Paddy also heard and likened it to a dove taking off.

Dave then commented on a noise at the furthest end of the building.

Due to Kim's arms she then swapped places with Dave who had his shoulder pain until this point.

Within five minutes Kim was complaining of an intensity of pain now in her shoulders.

After a further short time Kim stated she felt as if she was going to be stabbed in the left ear with a bradawl.

A break was called shortly after this.

Building A Session 3.

Whilst using the board the glass exhibited no movement.

Conclusions
Building A Session 1

First believed to be Ian's camcorder, Kim (seated closer to the camcorder) states she could only hear it when turning her head towards it. The fact that Paddy was facing the camera may indicate that his hearing had picked up the noise although it would have been expected for Kim to have heard it too. Other than suggesting this to be the case we cannot find any other cause.

No one else heard a voice and although no one else was about we can offer no explanation.

Kim's impression of a man cannot be readily explained.

Kim's impression of movement is difficult to explain. At the time of this comment there were no changes in lighting conditions or any moving traffic to create shadows or any such illusion.

No explanation can be provided for Paddy wanting to photograph the area near Kim. The photograph itself revealed nothing out of the ordinary and we are unable to comment on why he felt inclined to take it.

The noise heard by Kim and confirmed by Ian and Dave as being from the area of a window was at least located although the cause is unknown. There was no wind, no moving objects and the window itself was unable to have moved.

The leather type noise was the best we can describe what we thought it was. Paddy heard it and thought it was Dave or Ian on the other side of the building. Dave thought it was Ian as he definitely placed it coming from his direction although he could not be seen by Dave. Ian put it between himself and Dave if not Dave himself. Each had not moved and was adamant the noise was not them. There were no objects between them and therefore the source of the 'squeaky shoe' is unknown but this is not the first time that footsteps or something associated with human movement has been heard here.

Dave and Ian had full view of the areas where flashes of light were seen by Kim and Paddy although they did not see them. The areas were not covered by camcorder and so there is no recorded evidence to support the claim. Interesting two persons saw the first one and then Paddy saw the rest, yet Ian and Dave saw none. We cannot explain why this was. Imagination is one explanation although repeated imagination is more difficult to accept.

Other than occasional areas of light the building was in complete darkness. Kim's 'fog' is difficult to explain. The temperature was not low enough to produce a mist of natural causes which would also be rarer in a covered building. We have no idea what this was.

The footstep Kim heard was not recorded although it is consistent with previous reports from us in this same building. Occurring with frequency here they are light and on an earthen floor so tend to be lighter than can be recorded although occasionally they have been (see previous reports and video footage).

Two taps were recorded on the footage supporting this event. The source, however, and exact location was not identified. There has previously been wildlife seen in the building although not on this occasion. We cannot rule wildlife out from having caused these (linky)

The singular rattle heard was clarified not to have been caused by Ian or Dave. Paddy suggested it sounded like the latch on the entrance door. It was recorded on the footage on Ian's camcorder and certainly sounds like this may have been the source (linky). We know none of us were near this door and there were no other persons on site. The latch is of the normal type with a bar of metal rotating on a central pin retained by a metal clip that, when closed, slots into a metal hook attached to the door frame. Physical intervention is required to lift the latch. We cannot explain how this occurred.

Whilst bats have been heard and seen within the building by the team, they cannot be seen in the darkness. The area where Kim described the brown object was in darkness and nothing is seen on the video footage at the relevant time. We cannot offer an explanation for what she described.

Kim's sensation in her arms would become uncomfortable pain by session 2 although was not present during the break and she suggested that it felt like she was being held around the upper arms. This cannot be explained as clearly on the footage nothing can be seen to be touching her although the events of the second session were of interest specifically.

Paddy stated he thought something was to Kim's right. This was an area that repeatedly featured during this session and as Paddy could not be more descriptive then he may have believed he saw something which was not actually there.

When Paddy sought clarification of the noise he heard Dave was quick to volunteer that his stills camera had fallen around his neck and caused the noise that was commented upon.

The noise that Kim and Paddy put near the door was not picked up on the footage although the following dull thud was. The light was not seen on the footage although the area it was in was not covered. The following noise was clarified not to have been Ian or Dave but was heard by them and the direction was confirmed. It was on the footage. Another later noise was also picked up on the footage.

Dave and Ian, at this point, stated that a number of the noises were heard by them and appeared to be emanating from near to them. The cause of these and the phenomena described in the previous paragraph remain unexplained.

Ian and Dave would also confirm that there were a number of other noises occurring near to them that were not being heard by Kim and Paddy. They do not form part of this sessions report as the prerogative of Ian and Dave was to observe Kim and Paddy and not specifically take part or comment on individual events that were not picked up on by Kim and Paddy.

In conclusion for this session the original aim of observing Kim and Paddy was a success in a number of different ways. The positioning of Ian and Dave away from Kim and Paddy enabled a separate viewpoint of the location of noises which was needed in this building due to its size and construction along with the number of obstructions within. What was concluded was that the noises tended to be where Paddy and Kim said they were. The only exceptions were those that were believed to be more in the centre, but towards Ian and Dave were actually more nearer Ian and Dave. There were also more noises near to them than Kim and Paddy picked up on. Ian and Dave, either together or singularly had a view of the areas of where lights were reportedly seen although nothing was corroborated by them.

We can therefore say that the noises actually occurred although their source may be unidentified, and even though they may not appear on the footage. We cannot substantiate any light phenomena as Ian and Dave, as observers, did not see them.

Altogether an interesting and worthwhile experiment.

Building A Session 2

Most of the conclusions drawn in Session 1 apply to the same occurrences in Session 2 with one exception that requires further thought.

During Session 1 Kim developed a pain in her upper arms. Had Kim sat still in the same position it might be said to have been caused by muscle seizure whereas in the footage from this session she can be seen to keep moving about. A similar feeling can occur in a cold atmosphere where circulation is interrupted for long periods. Again this is unlikely to be the case.

During the break the feeling wore off and Kim was able to continue refreshed only for the same feeling to develop during Session 2.

In an effort to explore the local nature of this physical symptom Kim and Dave swapped places. Dave, it will be remembered, was similarly suffering from a pain in his shoulder.

Dave's discomfort may be attributable to the way he was sitting. If leaning back awkwardly against a solid object this may have caused discomfort and muscle pain or circulatory issues. He believes he was not sitting in such a position.

When both swapped places Dave's symptoms subsided and he felt comfortable seated where Kim had been whilst not noticing the same feelings as Kim however Kim's feelings altered quickly to resemble what Dave had complained of.

Neither Kim or Dave have a known medical complaint to explain the feelings they detailed and neither were sat awkwardly with anything touching them in any of the areas of their body described.

The reasons for what they experienced are unknown.

Building A Session 3

Again Ghost Connections attempted to explore the theory of talking boards. Again it did not move at all and therefore no conclusions can be drawn.

During our stay a certain amount of other information was forthcoming to the team of a clairvoyant nature. As Ghost Connections conducts scientifically based investigations we do not publish such observations, however, this information is held on a separate database and may prove interesting when compared to other peoples experiences. Should you wish to discuss this information please email us.

Camcorder footage, still photographs and voice recorders were later examined and nothing further of note was found. Some of the audible noises were found to be recorded and as such we can be certain that they were not imagined by the team.

Thanks
Ghost Connections extend their thanks to the custodians of this site for their continued support to an ongoing series of investigations.
